Prison Guard Labor Dispute

Corrections Department Director A.T. Wall says he will file a complaint over what he calls an illegal job action at the Adult Correctional Institution on Friday morning. The Rhode Island Brotherhood of Correctional Officers says they called the Friday morning meeting because of escalating tensions between guards and prison management. We talk with Wall and with Richard Furruccio, president of RIBCO, about the issues within the prison.

Reducing Day to Day Placement
A change in Rhode Island state law has meant that families must seek counseling before turning to the police for help with their troubled children. The law has resulted in a dramatic drop in
wayward petitions and in the number of teenagers in state care. WRNI's Martha Bebinger profiles one Rhode Island family affected by the law.

Immigrants and the Economy
We speak with Jeanne Burritt Roberston of the Rhode Island Economic Development program about local policies and services. She will be a speaker at the Providence Journal/Brown University Public Affairs Conference on immigration next week.

Political Roundtable
Host Deborah Becker talks with University of Rhode Island's Political Science Department Chair Maureen Moakley, and Scott McKay, political writer for the Providence Journal.

Mexican Puppets
WRNI's Bill Marx reviews "The Repugnant Story of Clotario Demoniax," a production by the Mexico-city based Teatro Tinglado, which wraps up a one-week residency at Providence's Perishable Theater this week.

Aurea
A local group of performers visits the WRNI studio in honor of National Poetry Month. Aurea brings together music and poetry to create a unique collaborative arts program.

Ballet Review
Arts writer Bill Gale reviews Festival Ballet Providence's production of "Sleeping Beauty."
