Affordable Housing Debate
In public hearings this month, Rhode Island lawmakers will consider a
draft version of a new affordable housing law that would eliminate the
requirement that 10 percent of new housing developments be affordable.

Return to the Titanic
University of Rhode Island Ocean Archaeologist Bob Ballard announces his
return to the shipwreck he discovered nearly two decades ago. Ballard
hopes to eventually create an underwater museum at the site, so that viewers
from anywhere in the world can explore the wreckage from their personal
computers. His return voyage will be broadcast live on the National Geographic
Channel in June.
CCRI Eases the Transition
to College
The Community College of Rhode Island is one of a dozen community colleges
across the country involved in the Bridge Partnership, an organization
which tries to ease the transition between high school and college. We
speak with CCRI's Holly Susi and with West Warwick Superintendent of Schools
David Raiche about CCRI's work in West Warwick.
Political Roundtable
Host Deborah Becker talks with University of Rhode Island's Political
Science Department Chair Maureen Moakley, and Scott McKay, political writer
for the Providence Journal.
Menopause Mama
We speak with Rhode Island's Rose Weaver about her campaign to take her
one-woman production, "This Mama is Just getting Started," on
the road. The 55-year-old weaver hopes to heighten awareness about our
culture's attitudes toward the aging process.
"Spinning into Butter"
The administration at a small, mostly-white New England College struggles
to address racism on campus in playwright Rebecca Gilman's "Spinning
into Butter." An investigation into incidents on campus leads them
to confront and explore their
own prejudices. WRNI's Jordana Gustafson speaks with Providence's Newgate
Theater Artistic Director Brien Lang and actress Claire Blackmer.
