FORMER GOVERNOR'S WIFE SEEKS PENSION
The Rhode Island High Court has upheld the revocation of former Governor
Edward DiPrete's pension benefits, and has asked a lower court judge to
consider allowing DiPrete's wife to receive a portion of the pension.
POVERTY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY
Family Services of Rhode Island is set to open a much-needed outreach
center in Washington County, a region of the state generally considered
financially well-off.
SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND SCHOOL
In light of the current U-S Supreme Court case about the phrase "under
God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, we look back to 1992, when a Rhode
Island family won its U.S. Supreme Court case against Providence Public
Schools. As a result of the decision, schools nationwide were required
to expand their 30-year ban on school prayer to graduation.
