As part of our occasional series on education we report on a program known
as RISE,Rhode Islanders Sponsoring
Education. The program helps to pay for educational opportunities
and provides adult mentors for children whose mothers have been incarcerated.
Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership
January is national mentorship month. It was started in 2002 by the Harvard
Mentoring Project to recruit more volunteers for the thousands of children
who could use another adult in their life. WRNI's Megan Hall went to the
Rhode Island Mentoring
Partnership to learn more about a local program.
