Program Director
WRNI/Rhode Island Public Radio seeks its first program director to build on the momentum from its successful independence campaign. The program director will be in charge of all marketing and promotion for the station on all media platforms to maximize audience and consider the conception and launch of new local programs.
Applicants must have years of experience data mining Arbitron ratings. Candidates should be tech savvy, with automation (Audio Vault), and sound editing and digital audio production (Fast Edit, Pro Tools) experience and have a strong familiarity with successful social media strategies. Superior written and oral communications skills are required, as are strong organizational and management skills.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, at least 3-5 years experience and demonstrated success as a manager or program director for a news station. Other preferred qualifications include 2-3 years of public radio experience that includes pledge drive production, on-air hosting/coaching, along with editorial decision-making experience. A public figure, the WRNI Program Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining communication with listeners through the station's Advisory Council, Marketing Committee, public forums and events. Internships
Internships are available in news writing and in audio production. News interns assist in gathering and writing items for broadcast. Audio production interns assist in preparing audio promos for broadcast. Both internships provide a great deal of hands-on experience in the operations of a public radio station.
