State GOP chairman Giovanni Cicione told me a short time ago that RI Republicans will have a gubernatorial candidate next year, although it is not yet  known who that will be following the withdrawal of Rory Smith.

Cicione calls Steve Laffey a gubernatorial possibility -- if Laffey decides to run. He would not identify by name any other potential candidates.
