ACTION SPEAKS 2004
sponsored by AS220 and The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities
Sundays at 8pm on 1290 WRNI.
Attend live event Wednesday evenings at 5:30.
Action Speaks: Significant Yet Underappreciated Dates of 20th Century
American History is a topic driven, panel organized humanities forum
established to contextualize contemporary American issues through
the lens of less well known events in American 20th Century history.
Action Speaks is the result of a unique partnership between the
Rhode Island Council for the Humanities (RICH) and AS220, an award-winning
arts organization located in Providence, RI. With this program,
our goal is
to make high quality, impartial, intellectually diverse dialogue
and civic debate available to the general public. It is our hope
that the Action Speaks program contributes to a more engaged and
enlightened citizenry.
This year, as Action Speaks approaches its 9th season of bringing
thought-provoking dialogue to our capital city, our focus is on
topics that will help us contextualize American politics in this
important election year. What role have these organizations played
in shaping the American political and cultural landscapes? What
are some of the driving forces behind local and national politics?
Please join us to explore these questions on Wednesday evenings
in October at AS220 from 5:30 to 7pm at the AS220 café. The
Action Speaks panel discussions are taped live for rebroadcast on
RIs NPR station 1290 WRNI on Sunday evenings at 8pm. For more
information, please contact RICH Program Officer, SueEllen Kroll
at sue@rihumanities.org or 273-2250.
